Ana Cabrera is an award-winning American journalist known for her work on CNN. She currently appears as an anchor on the weekend primetime edition of CNN Newsroom based in New York.
Ana was born on 13 May 1982 in Denver, Colorado to parents Ronald Cabrera and Judith Cabrera. She has four siblings; three brothers, Matthew, Nathan, and John Cabrera and a sister named Angelina Cabrera. Both her mother and sister are left-handed. She was raised in the middle-class family of Mexican heritage. Growing up, she enjoyed performing that includes acting, singing in a choir, or playing the piano.
Cabrera with a height of 5 feet 4 inches pursued her early education at Skyview High School. Afterward, she went to the Washington State University after the women’s cross-country and track teams recruited her and offered her a scholarship. There, she earned her degrees in communication and foreign languages and cultures, graduating in 2004.
Cabrera began her broadcasting career in 2005 as an anchor/reporter for NBC affiliate KHQ-TV in Spokane, Washington. There, she worked until 2009 and moved to KMGH-TV Channel 7 News in Denver and started to work as a morning news anchor.
In 2013, she joined CNN as a correspondent based in Denver. Meanwhile, Cabrera has anchored various CNN’s top breaking news stories, including Hurricanes Harvey and Maria, the Southerland Springs, Texas church shooting, the London Bridge attack and the deadly Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, etc.

Currently, she anchors the weekend primetime edition of CNN Newsroom based in New York. She has covered numerous stories from politics, to natural disasters, to mass shootings and more.
Ana is currently married to wave surfing designer Benjamin Nielsen. They exchanged wedding vows on 11 September 2005 and have been together since then. Benjamin is a LEED-certified civil engineer. Currently, he works for McLaughlin Whitewater Design Group, a hydraulics engineering firm known for innovative advancement in wave technology called the “Wave Shaper” that was implemented at the Boise River Park.

The couple is the now parents of two children. Firstly, they welcomed a son named Jack on 10 October 2011. Later, their daughter, Maria was born on 5 January 2016. Ana describes her husband as a solo parent during the weekend.
