Marty The Robot has been a significant member of the GIANT Food stores since 2019. The tall robotic assistant has been helping customers identify hazards such as spills and out-of-stock items across the stores. 

He can be seen patrolling the store aisles at all times. The tall grey robot is equipped with several cameras.

Marty has gained a lot of fame due to his googly eyes and cute facial expressions.  The googly eyes add a bit of personality to the otherwise dull monolith. The customers love being assisted by Marty. 

Marty’s job includes assisting the customers inside the store, and Marty has never been asked to accompany customers outside the store. 

Rarely does he venture off on his own, but that changed two days ago. 

One Pennsylvania grocery shopper in the Lehigh Valley area posted a video on Facebook showing Marty on the loose in a store parking lot before employees escorted him back inside and ended Marty’s short-lived bid for freedom. 

A spokesperson for GIANT covered up Marty’s escape in the following words, “Marty was just on a fresh air break.

Marty is the new social media viral sensation. His escape video has received more than 509,000 views, 580,000 likes, and 230,000 comments since it was posted three days ago.

Some people shared their love for Marty in the comments, while others encouraged his freedom. 

Most customers are seen voicing support for the robot assistant’s bid for freedom from its GIANT store in Hellertown.

A Facebook user twisted Marty’s escape story to create his own story. He asked the other people to think of this incident along Terminator: Judgement Day lines. 

He said, “Now that Marty knows that the universe extends beyond the doors of the Hellertown Giant, he’s going to communicate this knowledge with the other Martys and together they will begin to plot our downfall,” he wrote. “We need to prepare for these people!”
