SINCE 1991, Christian LeBlanc has portrayed Michael Baldwin in The Young and The Restless.
However, the Emmy Award winner has remained absent for several episodes of the long-running soap opera.
On October 25, 2023, Christian LeBlanc explained he wasn't able to film many of The Young and The Restless' 51st season because of his multiple myeloma diagnosis.
Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer that develops in the bone marrow's plasma cells.
"It's a common cancer but a very fast-moving one," Christian told 4WWL.
"I'd never spent a day in the hospital in my 65 years until this year."
The actor revealed that his rapid weight loss was one of the first signs something was wrong with his health.
He also said his subsequent signs included nosebleeds and the drooping of his eyes.
The drooping in his eyes was caused by a tumor in his sinus cavity.
Previously, Christian's Y&R character Michael Baldwin also had a storyline that dealt with cancer.
Christian further recalled: "My eye kind of got a little wonky, the fans caught it.
"I was getting people like, 'Your eye is a little Jim Carrey that way, a little Michael this way.'
"My nose started bleeding on set. Sometimes, this eye kind of got a little wonky because there was a tumor in the sinus cavity.
"It's interesting. You play that scene where you hear the word, just the word, in a doctor's office...cancer...and I got to play that as Michael Baldwin."
Following his immunotherapy treatment, Christian is slated to return to Y&R just in time for the show's Thanksgiving episode on Thursday, November 23.
While addressing his future on the soap, he expressed gratitude for getting his symptoms checked out.
"If I hadn't gone in for an eye exam, it might have progressed more."
He added: "It's a very fast cancer and that is the danger of it."
Every Monday to Friday, Y&R season 51 airs a new episode at 12:30pm via CBS.
Reruns are available on ParamountPlus+, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video.
Y&R is one of the longest-running television shows in network history.
The program broadcasted its first episode on March 26, 1973.
